Difficult setting/Draftplex big board
R1 P9 CB Patrick Surtain II - Alabama
R2 P8 LB Jamin Davis - Kentucky
R3 P7 S Jevon Holland - Oregon
R4 P9 RB Kylin Hill - Mississippi State
R5 P8 EDGE Elerson Smith - Northern Iowa
R6 P7 QB Jamie Newman - Wake Forest
R7 P9 WR Michael Strachan - Charleston
I would be pretty damn happy with this draft. Some notes: I don't like not getting a OT, Trey Lance and Horn were both options at 9 as well as parsons. I prefer Horn to Surtain but think Fangio would prefer the reverse. I'm not so sure we are the type of team to take a risk on parsons even though we should but the Jamin Davis hype train is real and 2nd round would be grand theft if it happened. Zaven Collins went the pick before Davis in rd 2 as well. Kylin hill and Newman would both be steals in the draft range here and so would holland, Strachan is a sleeper at WR.
Denver's 2024 George Paton Draft/FA plan
Draft

RD3- QB Spencer Rattler, SC
RD4- CB Josh Newton, TCU
RD5- S Reggie Pearson, OK
RD5- C Michael Jurgens, Wake Forest
RD6- K Jonah Dalmas, Boise St
FA

I'll disagree on the Horn/Surtain analysis. I think Surtain is far better off in man schemes, where Horn is diverse and excels in a zone scheme similar to what Fangio runs. Plus, Horn is tenacious against the run. Not always the best tackler, but loves to get involved in the run game.
Not sure the hype train is going to allow Davis to fall to pick 40, but that would be great if it did.
I'm a big Newman guy. I feel like if you're going to go with lock this year which it looks like is going to happen then you could not do any better than Newman late a lot of boards have him going in the 6th I just think there was a lot of hype around him before he opted out this year so I think it might actually be a fourth or fifth round pick. But I've been selecting him in most of my mocks. Everybody else I really like.

- John Elway“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”

Really like this from top to bottom. I used Patons tactic. Liked multiple players at our slots and kept reading back until I couldn't pass on Rousseau. Got two very good cornerbacks got my favorite of the second tier running backs. Got an enforcer to match with Simmons long-term. Quality talent at right tackle. Into Uber athletic prospects for the defensive line. I don't think there's any way money rice lasts to pick 144 but when he was still on the board I had to take him because he gives us a quality coverage linebacker with scheme versatility.
