Default White might be a top five pick

I said a few weeks ago that I didn't expect white to be available at ten. While this article speculates about that a bit, the guy just ran a 4.4 as a LB. He won't be available at ten. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap300...l-combines-lbs

So, I pose to you all this question: do you think it's worth trading up for him?

I love him but i dont think Denver can really afford to trade up for anyone. There is a lot of talent on defense this year and as much as i would hate to miss out on White there will still be Devin Bush who can be had either in the late 1st or 2nd round. And what about Nick Bosa? Are we thinking both LB's go in the top 5?

NYJ gave next to nothing last year to move from 6 to 3 for a QB. 10 to 7 or 8 shouldn't be too pricey.

whoa, smiley. . . you can't complain about giving up one 4th, then call three seconds "next to nothing!"
“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”

I never complained about the 4th. I just think Flacco sucks. I just assumed we'd get a 5th back for CK at some point

Depends on how high and which QB would also be available?

bosa, allen, three QBs, metcalf, quinnen williams and ed olliver, jonah williams, white, murphy/baker/williams. . . there should be a strong pick for us @ ten. . . if it doesn't fall right, i'd be more about trading back than trading up for anyone in this class. . . use FA and this draft to re-stock the defense and the O-line, and stock up ammo to make a run at a blue chip QB next year. . .

I concur. If White is there at 10, I'd be shocked if Fangio & Elway pass on him. I wouldn't move up, though.

Real question is, would Elway pass on Drew Lock for Devin White?

He's better at his position probably. BPA. Fangio already said BPA.

If there hadnt been a trade for Flacco i would say it would be real difficult for Denver to pass on Lock. But i do think that taking White is BPA and a far more immediate impact than Lock would be at this time.

This I agree with. I like lock and we need a future Qb, but we would get more day 1 impact from white, with Flacco currently the guy.
    Denver's 2024 George Paton Draft/FA plan

    Draft
    RD1- TE Brock Bowers, GA
    RD3- QB Spencer Rattler, SC
    RD4- CB Josh Newton, TCU
    RD5- S Reggie Pearson, OK
RD5- C Michael Jurgens, Wake Forest
RD6- K Jonah Dalmas, Boise St

    FA

I had been for moving back...until I did my homework on White. He's the one I want this year. If our QB is gonna suck again, make the defense ridiculous. Grab Amos and Hankins and draft White. Then worry about CB.

Montez Sweat's 4.4 may elevate him into the top 10 as well, and there are at least 3 teams that need edge rushers: San Francisco, New York Jets, and Oakland. I don't see Tampa Bay passing on him now, especially if they are going to convert to a 3-4. This would mean that White might still drop, but it's really going to be unpredictable which elite name makes it to 10.
