Wouldn't be shocked if we go totally off the radar and grab a DL to solidify the front
I get what you're saying. But other than Oliver who could you say would justify that high of a pic. Williams is going to be gone by 5 almost assuredly. So then the only other guy is Oliver and he seems to me more like a three technique so maybe he isn't scheme specific you no Aaron Donald did great with Wade Phillips last year.
- John Elway“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”
Ed Oliver bringing pressure up the middle with Von and Chubb on the outside? That wouldn't even be fair. If teams are silly enough to let him drop to 10, I think Elway turns the pick in within a minute. Much like Chubb last year.
We no longer have defensive minds that cannot adjust to players strengths. Fangio will find the best way to use Oliver.
I think that if you're not tied to scheme than Ed Oliver almost makes too much sense. And honestly as much as I like Williams I think Oliver will be the best tackle it comes out of this draft. Because that guy honestly is athletic enough that he could line up and drop into coverage and literally be a threat defending passes. He's just that dominant.
I was with coach on scheme fit for Oliver, but with Fangio that's a valid point and he even said as much. He didn't even watch film on our guys because he wants to see things for himself and decide what's best for the players. we need that type of coaching as it usually breeds the best chance at success with players. This staff seems to favor versatility. I think Oliver would be in play at 10 as a result.
Rumors out there Atlanta wants Oliver bad and has interest in trading with Detroit....

I agree that Fangio could easily find a way to use Oliver...and I agree with other comments that he could and probably will end up being the best DL coming out of this draft. His Pro Day numbers would have been good for an edge rusher, linebacker or tight end...let alone a 285 pound DT. That said, I think he just pushed himself back up the board and likely wont be there at 10.

Coach rubber gun to you head. Which three players will surprisingly be there at 10?
