With the restructuring we did in September, we eat 13million if we cut him. Anyone know how much of that goes against the cap?

All of it. There is a June cut rule where you can apply half the dead money in the upcoming year and the other half in the following year, but I forget if it’s cutting someone pre-June or post-June.
*The statements above are my opinions, unless they are links, because then they are links, which wouldn't make them my opinions, and I suppose stats aren't necessarily opinion, but they are certainly presented to support an opinion. Proceed accordingly.

Pre-June would make more sense to me because it would give teams an incentive to release players sooner to give them more time to find a new team.

At this point when the season ends we just need to cut him and call it a day...take the money hit pre-June 1st so there isn't even a chance Elway changes his mind lol , make some smart FA and draft choices and play the young guys...let the pieces fall where the may....

I think the rule is that you can cut them before June 1st, but label it as a "post-June 1st" cut and spread out the dead money.

Crazy theory, but what if John and Joe had an "agreement" that John will restructure his contract and pay him more upfront this year, but if he sucks, he retires after this season. If he's great, cool. Nothing lost. If he sucks and retires, no cap hit (I think...).

This is just sad when you have to beg for it, Joe. Maybe make a good post every once in a while.

They did this to allow veterans a chance to be on open market during feeding frenzy.

I can't see Joey Flack being cool enough to do this. But if it happened I'd take it as a sign from the Lord and go to church.

    Mythbusting Joe Flacco’s contract

Despite what you may have read or heard, Flacco can be easily moved by Denver and his restructure didn’t add any additional cap burden onto Denver.
