The Texans traded a fourth-round draft pick to the Broncos for Demaryius Thomas last season. They didn’t get much of a return on that investment.

Houston plans to release Thomas, James Palmer of NFL Media reports.

Thomas played in seven games for the Texans, catching 23 passes for 275 yards and two touchdowns, before suffering a season-ending Achilles injury.

The 31-year-old Thomas would have been due a $14 million base salary this season, so the decision to cut him is no surprise. Thomas previously tore his other Achilles tendon and returned six months later, so if history is any guide he’ll be ready to play before the start of the 2019 season. But he won’t be playing for the Texans.

Lol and to think people criticized this trade. We basically got a free 4th round pick for a guy who was getting cut anyway, and who we could now get back for a fraction of the cost of what he was making if we wanted to bring him back.

DT did some good things for Denver but he is clearly done. Injuries surely didnt help.

Bummer for DT. Always loved him, but his career really took a Dive!

    The Plan at the moment:

Draft: Trade a 3rd and 6th this year to a team to move up and get a 2nd next year (this will happen).

    Players I want:
Jake Ferguson (Jake Butt) or Jelani Woods or Jeremy Ruckert or Cade Otten (owen daniels) at TE- All 4th rd or later.
Troy Anderson LB 3rd/4th rd (yay Timmy!)
Neil Farrell, JR DL- run stuffer- bye purcell

He probably won't play this year I'm guessing. Or will sign midseason with someone for peanuts. A second achilles tear at his age at his position is a really tough injury to overcome.

It looks like the Broncos won the Denver-Houston trade.

If he's released before season end (which is when the NFL "calendar" flips to the new year in March), his cap hit is zero. If the Texans don't cut him, his final two years kick in and his cap hit is $28 million. This is a no-brainer even if they re-signed him later. BTW, this was Denver's contract with DT, so don't blame the Texans for this.
I miss the old Mile High Stadium.

I don't think he's done in the league. I expect him to resurface on the Jets or Patriots next season.

Wish him nothing but the best. He had an infectious smile and did a lot of good things for Denver.

If indeed he is done DT will be my next jersey purchase (only buy retired players these days). Sure-fire Ring Of Famer.
