I'd say those kickers who can get the ball to pop up on the 2nd bounce would disagree.
That said....I'm not married to the onside kick, but I think it's ridiculous that the team doesn't have to earn possession back. And even though it's 4th and 10...it's still a zero risk endeavor when down late.
Id say the new rule would be in effect until the 4th quarter. After that, don't punish the team who built a lead. It would be fun to watch a 1st quarter gamble from your own 35.
I'm kind of anxious/ excited to see how this all plays off.
