This is about college baseball, there isn't a college baseball thread so I'm putting it in here.

As the father of a baseball player and specifically a 3rd baseman, my heart aches for the Auburn 3rd baseman tonight. Auburn was ahead 4-3 when a routine ground ball was hit to the 3rd baseman with 2 outs and the young man sailed the throw to first and the tying run scored. The winning run scored 2 batters later. Baseball can be a cruel game.

They've been pretty consistently good all season. Giving the Astros a run for their money for the AL crown that's for sure. At the beginning of the season I thought they'd do a Seattle and start shitting the bed eventually, but it hasn't happened.

I wish Mike Trout wasn't such a stick in the mud.

I will put up with a lot of shit, but talking bad about Mike Trout in the MLB thread is not acceptable. You shut your whore mouth.

The best player of...two generations isn't marketable and that bums me out.

Watched the Astros/Yankees from the View House in Centennial on Sunday. I was the only person in there watching the game I think, but it was great to watch the Astros beat the brakes off the Yankees after losing seven in a row.

And dont forget that Pujols is one of the greatest defensive 1st basemen of all time. I know 1st base isn't necessarily a premium defensive position like CF is, but ask any infielder who their best friend is and they'll tell you a 1st baseman who can stretch and pick those tough short hoppers out of the dirt.

I suppose it is hard to remember 28 year old Pujols, but even now, he’s a career .301/.380/.552/.932 hitter with 646 home runs and 649 doubles. First ballot hall of fame, easily.

Default Going, going, gone: MLB again hits new HR mark

NEW YORK -- A month after setting a record for most home runs in a month, big league batters did it again and are on pace to shatter the season mark.

Batters hit 1,142 home runs in June, seven more than they had hit in May.

Five of the top six home run months have occurred in the last three years. August 2017 is third at 1,119, followed by June 2017 (1,101), May 2000 (1,069) and May 2017 (1,060).

A total of 3,421 home runs were hit in 1,255 games through Sunday, an average of 2.73 per game. That is up 19% from the 2.28 average through June last year, when 2,822 home runs were hit in 1,236 games, according to the Elias Sports Bureau. Batters are on pace to hit 6,624 home runs -- well above the record 6,105 set in 2017 and up from 5,585 last year.

Oh Lordy, what a terrible team Detroit is fielding. Worse than the O's? Maybe. Just above .340 ball, and with an 8-4 start. These guys stink at every aspect.

I’m watching the O’s now vs my Rays.

I could pitch for the O’s I think.

I hope the Astros can pull something out of their ass and trade for Matthew Boyd. If the Nats try to move Sherzer they'll want the farm in return. Mad Bum might be had at a shallower asking price, but he's a rental player at best.

Astros are about to be full-steam ahead health wise, so hopefully they can get out this rut they've been in the last few weeks and get back to playing dominant ball.
