Yes, but his pricetag would be less than Sherzer or Mad Bum. The Astros are looking for a starter to add to their rotation with Gerrit Cole's contract up and his surely high asking price, Peacock to the IL, McCullers being out all year for Tommy John surgery, Framber Valdez being sent back down, and AJ Hinch's seeming unwillingness to insert Josh James and his laser rocket arm in to the starting rotation.

BYB thinks you'll have to give up Kyle Tucker+

The Astros upper management hang their hat on how deep their farm system is and their ability to seemingly pluck prospects out of thin air. That said, with Gerrit Cole likely gone after this season they need another legitimate starter in their rotation until Whitley and Corbin Martin, who after his gangbusters start on Mother's Day was atrocious, are ready. I'd be ecstatic rolling in to the playoffs with a rotation of JV, Cole, Boyd, and Wade Miley.

I would give up Tucker for Boyd. They have five outfielders locked up for next year and two for more than next year. With the infield locked up until 2023, it would seem like a prudent move to go get that pitcher with some prospects now.
I agree. Tucker could be good, but Alvarez could end up being an above average outfielder for the team as well and could end up being in the ROY talk come season's end from the DH spot of all places. Springer isn't going anywhere. Reddick likely will stay put unless his asking price becomes outrageous when the time comes. Brantley loves Houston and it wouldn't surprise me to see him stick around for a while.
Having a loaded farm system is great and all, but sometimes the game day roster is so loaded and locked down for so long that you need to move some prospects around to get pieces in place in the starting lineup. And the Astros do do that.

7.1 earthquake 123 miles from Dodger stadium. The camera was shaking. That was trippy.
The Dodgers are sucking in the ASG. Wish they would do more of that in the regular season.
Chuck Nazty!!!!!
Rumors around that the Astros are going to possibly pursue trade options for Trevor Bauer. Oh my. Alex Bregman would LOVE that.
