    Default Aaron Donald

two time, reigning NFL defensive player of the year. . . a bazillion sacks. . . too bad he played like a total fraud yesterday, and didn't show up at all. . . one freaking tackle! did they even call his name a single time? did he even get close to shady? you want to see how a real MVP shows up for big games? go watch some tape of von miller, son!

“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”

I remember reading a stat that the Pats only gave up one interior sack all season. It seems like they keyed on Donald and let the rest of the defense beat them, which the Rams pretty much did. The Rams defense was incredible last night. Seems a little silly to call out Donald. All the attention he got freed up everyone else to make a ton of plays.

From the 10 minute mark of the 3rd til the end i missed due to work but in the first half Wade had done a pretty good job of freeing up Donald so i dont think he was double team most of the time up to that point. I dont really blame Donald for the loss specifically but Donald also shares a Dline with a lot of big names so it is surprising that he wasnt a bigger impact than he was.

Rams defense held Pats to 13pts with zero help from the offense......sound familiar. Brady came into last night's game with 94 snaps & zero sacks in this post season. They're replaying the game on NFLN, and Donald is being doubled teamed. Belichick game planned, and McVay was just happy to be there.

i'm not blaming him-- it's silly to blame one person for a loss, but i'd think it would be goff first if you wanted to go that route. . . i was just disappointed that donald didn't show up. . . it's not like von doesn't get gameplanned for and double-teamed relentlessly. . . this is really just me showing #58 some love, since he never gets the attention in the DPOY conversation. . . von will probably never get that award (unless he goes berserk in fangio's scheme), but he has one that matters more. . .

They held the pats to 13 points, and they completely shut down their running game. I have to imagine Donald played some role in that. If I'm blaming anyone, it's their secondary for letting Edelman run wide open all game.

In any case, if you ask anyone on the planet before the game who wins if you know the Pats only score 13, there isn't a person on the planet picking against the Rams.

I guess Donald could have played better, but he's far down the list of people I'd blame for that loss.

Donald had 20.5 sacks this season, which is unheard of from a DT. I love Von to death, and it's a shame he doesn't have a dpoy award, but Donald deserved it this season.

I knew where you were going with calling out Donald.

sounds like he gets it. . .

Suh’s mate on the defensive line Aaron Donald sounded some similar notes. He said he felt like he “let my team down” because he wasn’t able to make a big play when the defense needed one in the fourth quarter.

“They made a play and we didn’t,” Donald said.

should've been watching that super bowl 50 tape before the game, homie. . .

Whoa - the held the GOAT to one decent drive. The pats are one of the best coached teams with the ability to execute a new game plan every week - yet the Rams stifled them for the majority of the game.

Donald might not have made a highlight reel - but he played his part.

They allowed a few chunk plays to Edelman, that was a gamble that in the end, didn't pay off - but it is not on Donald. At least in my opinion anyway

Exactly. I get that the point of this thread is to pump up Miller, but I don't see why it's necessary to shit on Donald to do that. Especially in a game in which the defense played great. If you replace Donald with Miller last night, I don't think the result of that game would be much different. Goff still would have completely stunk up the joint.

Nah, I can’t support this thread.

The Rams averaged 33 points a game. They scored 3 total points. 30 less points then their average!

Credit the Pats defense and Bills game plan.

Donald was absolutely blowing up the line in the first half and his teammates weren’t helping him. They ran away from him and audibled away from him the whole time. I’d say Suh is the one who didn’t step up.
*The statements above are my opinions, unless they are links, because then they are links, which wouldn't make them my opinions, and I suppose stats aren't necessarily opinion, but they are certainly presented to support an opinion. Proceed accordingly.

I'd say their defense held the Patriots as long as they realistically could and therefore deserve no blame.
