- John Elway“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”

Now that VJ’s gone I’m going to ease up on him. Terrible hire - entirely JFE’s fault - his own words.
Never got the impression VJ was a bad guy though.

One of the women said she did not pursue further action because she "could handle herself" and she only wanted to see CU fire him. So yeah, he's a piece of crap, both as a coach and as a person.
VJ sucked but I didn’t hate his guts like I did McDick.

Jury is still out for me with regards to the locker room, particularly when you got both vet players and coaches subtly badmouthing him now. VJ could not command the respect of a coaching staff that won Super Bowl 50, and had to fire certain guys because he brought nothing to the table that would make a coach or a player with a ring go "Wow. This guy can make me better."
With McDaniels, there was never a question about his knowledge of the game. He was an absolute a-hole to his staff and players, but his a-holishness came from a position of him knowing the game well and just lacking the people skills/leadership qualities to motivate a team towards his Xs and Os vision. The biggest example of McD blowing it was with Mike Nolan. Mike Nolan schematically blitzed way too much, but McD didn't have the people skills to see Nolan's perspective: the team simply did not have the talent to run a "bend, don't break" NE-style defense at the time. Nolan's only chance schematically was to blitz all day and hope for the best, and McD's arrogance blinded him to thinking only his schemes worked.
With VJ? Guy had no schemes. Guy had no vision. Guy had no chance. Guy had no hope. Guy had no clue.
I'd take Josh McDaniels ANY day of the week over VJ. At least McD can say he's outcoached people. When has Vance Joseph EVER outcoached anyone in his career?
Gloss over the whole patriot way cheating thing.
A reputation of incompetence and sexual assault vs. a reputation of an a-hole that can gameplan? Give me the game planner. I like knowing my team has a chance. There is a reason why one guy has rings and the other doesn't. VJ couldn't get a job in New England as a janitor.
Either way, glad both eras are over.
The police report states the woman chose not to pursue it because "she could handle herself" and that she only wanted to see VJ lose his job at CU. Not many women want to be dragged through the long court process, where their name will inevitably be dragged through the dirt. CU decided to part ways with Vance, so clearly they believed enough of the accusations to get rid of him. A coach really shouldn't be running around drinking with student athletic trainers anyways.
