Default Alaska earthquake MAP: Where did Alaska earthquake hit? Where is tsunami warning?

The huge tremor was recorded at 5.29pm GMT (8.29am local time), rattling buildings and terrifying residents.

One person wrote on EMSC’s testimonies website: “Very bad. It’s ugly.”
    Where was the earthquake?

The epicentre was recorded 12km north of Anchorage, Alaska’s largest city home in the south-central part of the state on the Cook Islet.

The city is home to nearly 300,000 people.

Everything is good here. This was a pretty good shaker, and lasted for a couple mins. The center was across the inlet from us. We had minimal damage to our home that I can see, and only stuff off the shelves in the pantry & out of cabinets. Few pictures fell off the wall. The aftershocks were crazy. Some roads are severely damaged, and fuel shortage. I left only to pick up my daughter from school as they closed the schools right away. Good thing today was my day off. The power was out for most of the day.

Awesome, saw the quake happened and saw pictures of the damage this morning and immediately came here to see if you were alright.

Glad it wasn't too bad in your neck of the woods.

We've had over 200 earthquakes in this area since yesterday morning's 7.0..... https://earthquake.alaska.edu/earthquakes You try to go to sleep, then the house will start shaking, so last night was a rough night sleep. You can hear them coming. I'm counting my blessings if that's the worse for us. Some geologist say this will go on for a couple weeks.

    Yikes man, no bueno.

We've had a lot of earthquakes here in Kansas lately too, but they are so minor you can't feel them. Hope it all dies down soon man.

There is only one highway (Glenn Hwy) that goes from Anchorage to Wasilla, and it crosses over the Eagle River. This is the northbound (outbound) bridge. It seems to be held together by the guards rails. There are ways around through Eagle River (the town). Traffic is going to be a nightmare around here. Definitely a wake up call for this area.
