Stop polluting my thread;I could take the time to violate your shitty trolling and bad takes, but I’d prefer my thread stay clean. I don’t wander into your Nug or NTL’s OKC thread and post mindless slander. I thought it’d be Nuggets in 7; looks more like five.

I do hate a Johnny-come-lately...and I know that good arguments don't matter in 2023, but at a certain point...it has to happen.

Meh, let's put it in perspective:

This man is so great that people are saying he's a bust in the playoffs while he's averaging over 23 points, TEN rebounds, and just under 5.5 assists a game. He's doing this in year 20, at age 38. That stat line, and clutch play--because we ain't forgetting the other series, fam--is also coming from a guy whose foot injury was so bad he was told to shut it down and have surgery.

That's the standard you all hold him to: doesn't matter how old he is, doesn't matter how healthy he is, doesn't matter that it's unprecedented a 38 year old player is still easily top ten in the game...you hold him to the highest of high standards.

And I know that folks in general dislike deep dives, and critical thinking is dead, but there's a very real way in which the LeBron bashers are truly the greatest argument anyone could ever make for being GOAT.

Think about it: you argue rings, but when Bill Russell gets brought up the era/competition/rules get brought up...but we mustn't argue about those things when it's MJ! MJ struggled to carry a team as far as LBJ did early in their careers; and LBJ took an objectively horrible team to the finals after having one of the greatest performances in sports history against the Pistons...but it's better to lose earlier (it's all about that 0) in the ring conversation, right? All about the rings! Except when we talk about Russell.

It's gotta be the scoring titles! Except that's supposed to be a means to an end: and LBJ won games by being one of the best scorers and passers in history. The team game--that took MJ how many years to learn, he pushed back on it against Phil--was always LBJ's focus. So when the right thing was to be a passer, he did it, arguably as well as anyone in his era. He was easily one of, if not the, best scorers of his era...which is really more like three eras in the NBA. The man, when the Lakers needed it, averaged over 30 points a game and he was over 35. If he wanted to win scoring titles to prove a point like MJ did, he could. Mans said it way back when, too.

You want more scoring stats? LBJ averages 27 points a game for his career, sixth all time. He does on that four fewer shots per game than MJ. So this pass first guy is a remarkably better passer, a more efficient scorer, his shooting averages are better across the board than MJ. So I guess now the question is, with all that, how does anyone on earth try to justify MJ being the better scorer when LBJ does it more efficiently, it's not the sole centerpiece of his game, and oh yeah LBJ has been an elite scorer longer than MJ has because my guy didn't have to retire two times. LBJ casually broke the scoring record; the same record when I was growing up made the 'all-time unbreakable record' lists ad nauseum.

What was Jordan doing on that second retirement comeback? Wanna compare MJ at 38 to LBJ? How about at 37? Wanna compare them based just on years in the league?

Wow, I didn't mention the man was the ONLY guy in the league who is top five in points all-time AND assists all-time. If Bron wanted to go pure passer he could have done that, too.

Oh you wanna argue clutch stats? Go ahead and google LeBron clutch stats. Do that legwork yourself. I guarantee you that they're wildly different than what your perspective is.

Michael Jordan played against the end of the Lakers dynasty, with James worthy on one leg; then he got to beat the shit out of the Super Sonics, who weren't great, the Barkley suns, who had some decent runs, but weren't great, either, and their best player was a fat loser with no intangibles. Sprinkle in the sad-sack Blazers and four out of six rings came against teams no one cares about to this day, and we barely remember. The Jazz were good as ****.

But none of those teams were as good as the Dynasty Spurs. None of them even sniff the Warriors. Steph beat Bron with an injured Kyrie and K-love. Then Bron pulled the greatest feat in NBA history on a 3-1 comeback. It forced the Warriors to kill their original team and get KD; that was after he ended the Spurs dynasty with Duncan.

I'll just unloading the clip even though the argument is over, at least if you're not an ideologue: the 90's were an expansion era. That 'super physical' era that you say LBJ couldn't survive in let lesser players with athletic frames go wild: Grant Hill, Penny Hardaway, and to a lesser extent McGrady/Carter all ate in that same era. Somehow LBJ wasn't going to overcome those same defenders? He's bigger than Horace Grant, Charles Oakley, etc.

Once you get past the mythos and the same ring arguments that are the NFL equivalent of Bradshaw > Manning it's clear who is better.

You want to do the stupid MVP argument after Embiid just won? I mean we watched Steve Nash win two MVPS he had no right winning; Kobe has one MVP; Shaq doesn't even have three; Embiid stole one from NJ; Giannis, Rose, etc. stole MVPs from Bron. Who gives a shit about awards that come from people? If that's the case, Kareem has the same about of rings, more MVPs, and more points than MJ. Oh, but different era again, right? See how that goes?

tl;dr - thanks for the drive-by trolling, you and Jaded both suck ass, and in 20 years no one will think MJ is the GOAT except the same fans who stopped watching after MJ retired and people who like cookie-cutter arguments.

Jaded and Timmy are now officially my enemies: I shan't return until I get a sincere and deep apology from both of them regarding their sins.

Yeah…not sure if you want to be throwing out the flopping card, but this just shows how these things go. Is what it is.
