He went from being one of the best pure scorers of all time to a guy who can't support his defensive bad habits. He also needs to be a much better three point shooter considering how he can't get to the bucket anymore.

If he had a better attitude and understanding of the game he could still be a better than average player. A Ray Allen mentality would have made him relevant.

What's really frustrating is that he CAN.

Defense, to me, is a mind-set. It's an attitude. It's EFFORT.

From Mid-December through mid January last season Melo actually played some defense. Yes, he got beat. Yes, it wasn't all-star level defense, but he put in the effort and it showed.

Then he just quit. Roberson got hurt, and everything went in the toilet from there.
