It’s hard to consistently win with a qb best suited to doing nothing.
Manning simply tore a tendon in his foot in August and it never really got much better. He probably had surgery on it after the season. He was retired and doesn't have to tell anybody any more about his medical history. No more NFL mandatory medial disclosures.
Well, he couldn't throw effectively without that tendon. Like being a club-foot. You throw with your lower body and he couldn't.
The sad thing is that Manning would have actually been the best QB on the roster in 2016. Had they known Osweiler sucked so bad, they would never have planned on keeping him, and could simply have kept Manning. He would have been healthy again by next September and would have been much better. Whether he would have STAYED that way through out an entire season may perhaps be doubted. Still, better than Trevor or Paxton!

Having a ‘16 QB depth chart of PFM, Paxton Lynch and Trevor Siemian might have been the one that got away, we were all shortsighted on that.
