Default Rams' Aqib Talib out at least month with high ankle sprain; Marcus Peters (calf) day-to-day

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. -- Los Angeles Rams coach Sean McVay couldn't imagine a scenario where he would potentially lose both of his starting cornerbacks to injuries.

But that is potentially the case as the Rams (3-0) prepare to play the Minnesota Vikings (1-1-1) on Thursday night.

Aqib Talib suffered a high ankle sprain Sunday in a victory over the Los Angeles Chargers that will sideline him indefinitely, and Marcus Peters strained his calf and is questionable to play against the Vikings, McVay said.

"Hopefully we'll get him back at some point in time and he'll handle it the right way and do everything he can to get back sooner than later," McVay said about Talib, who will seek a second opinion on his ankle before undergoing surgery. "It is something we anticipate him getting back at some point. When that date would be, it's hard to say right now."

Question - if it is definitely a high ankle sprain, why would surgery be required?

A high ankle "sprain" is damage to the tendons that connect the tibia and fibula. If just strained it will heal, if torn it requires surgery.

I think technically even a "strain" is actually a minor tear right?

Correct, a strain is a partial tear.

Yes, but not all strains are tears. A hyper extension might cause inflammation without tearing, an impact injury can do the same.

So, while minor, or incomplete, tears are referred to as strains or sprains there are things that fall under that umbrella that aren't tears.

That could be very beneficial to us in a few weeks if he hasn't healed up yet (not that I wish for Captain Insano to miss time)

Yeah maybe they'll only beat us by two touchdowns instead of 3.

Vikings, at LA tonight at Philadelphia next week. Staring at a possible 1-3-1 start.

The Rams are now missing Talib and Peters. So Cousins catching a bit of a break.

How do they live down the 27-6 loss to the Bills at home though? If they don't bounce back tonight....

    Heap of trouble

Im going to watch (or at least attempt to) view tonight's game on Amazon Prime. Apparently they are doing 11 Thursday night games starting tonight with different options of sports commentators calling the game including 2 women. Should be interesting to check out.

It’s Hannah Storm and Andrea Kramer.
*The statements above are my opinions, unless they are links, because then they are links, which wouldn't make them my opinions, and I suppose stats aren't necessarily opinion, but they are certainly presented to support an opinion. Proceed accordingly.
