So, let me get this straight:
The Vikings talent carried Keenum and all they needed was a QB. They went and got a QB and are going to have a worse record this year? Do I have that right?
Do you ever consider the cost of CK as opposed to the cost of the GREAT COUSINS?
The Vikings defense, while not as good as last year, is not doing as bad as you are insinuating. I do know last nights game the Bears offense did not exactly light the Vikings up. Their offense scored 18 points and had 306 total yards.
The Bears defense though......
Cousins would have bankrupted this team for the next 4 or 5 years and while he is good, he is not that good. He is not a Brees or a Rodgers. Those two QBs have a hard enough time getting to a SB without a defense.
Cousins could never do it.
I think a few things were at play. One, Ck came in as relief last year, which means there was not that pressure on him. We have tons of examples of certain QBs thriving without the pressure of great expectation, then they turn to moosh after that pressure of expectation is applied. That, imo is the reason so many people are so confused by the production then the lack thereof from Fitzpatrick. A perfect relief or backup QB and then he turns to dust when the expectation is applied.
All year last year CK played with that pressure off of him. Here, that pressure was applied....big time.
The Vikings OL is pretty much the same as last year, except for their center I believe. Their defense took a few hits. One was a mental thing and a few injuries.
The bottom line is CK signed to a 2 year contract and was meant to be a stop gap type of player. Now that the future QB is not on the roster as of yet, he may be here a bit longer.
That is my theory anyway.
