Gruden: Anything Josh McDaniel can do I can do better!
This is so fantastic to watch the Raiders go back to being the Raiders in real time.
10 years and $100 million and he's lost the locker room before coaching a game... I'm giddy.
Wow. I'm dumbfounded. Maybe he can waste those pockets as well as McDummy did when he traded Cutler
I've been texting and trolling my raider friends here in Cali. They are in full meltdown mode.

Nothing like waking up to great news like this!!

This is what ginormous QB contracts do. Been saying it for a while now.
The Vikings have a small window. They have young cheap good defenders. When they are up for contract, they are gone.
The fact is no team has won a SB without a dynamic defense. It is hard enough to try to win it with a solid defense. The only guarantee is if a team does not have solid defense, that team has zero chance.
Tom Brady being the 17th highest paid QB gives the Pats such an advantage.

The Raiders had a four year window where both Carr and Mack were on their rookie deals. Remember all that talk before last year about them being the team to dethrone the Patriots? Here's how those years went:
2014 - 3-13
2015 - 7-9
2016 - 12-4 (lost out on the division when Carr got hurt and then lost to the Osweiler-led Texans in the WC round)
2017 - 6-10 (Carr signed extension before the season)
Now Carr has a $25 million cap number and Mack was traded. Good job capitalizing on that window!
As people keep saying, its a QB's league. So pay your starter whatever he thinks he worth, and then pay the other 52 players on the roster whatever you have left. That's how the Ravens' dynasty came about. Them winning SB XLVII led Flacco to believe that he was entitled to being the highest paid player in the league, because everyone knows that he's the 1 & only reason they won that SB. The Ravens' brain trust agree & they've been the league's premier franchise ever since. The Raiders are just following the Ravens' example, except for the fact that they've only had 1 winning season & play-off birth in the 4 years the Carr has been their QB.

Bottom line is a team has a better chance at winning it with an average QB and great defense than a great QB with an average defense.
History proves that.
