We don’t need some old fuddy banging the war drums about defense.

    We need offense and youth

We need to be competitive. Our last SB was won on the strength of the D, not offense. We need a better offense, but we need to rely on defense

Why would the past SB dictate what we should do right now when the trend is offense winning, and that was even before the rule changes for this season?

Look at last night's game. Imagine if one of this two teams had a damn good D. They would look like the Saints. They're not just scoring a lot, they're holding their opponents down and kicking sand in their face.

As offenses proliferate the defense is that much more important. As the rules skew toward offense you should be able to get by with above average offense, but if you want to go anywhere you need a damn good D.

You can't attack a strength from the sideline.

The Rams have a pretty good defense - sometimes you just can't stop a god tier offense, and that's what you have now. The league has changed.

And the Saints defense has been gashed horribly this season. The Bucs went ham on them. The Rams scored 35. The Falcs got 37.

What's going to do the Saints in this season, unfortunately, is that their offense isn't threat diverse. They have a deadly run game, and some nice backs that can catch a pass, and a great WR. But they've been trying to find a legitimate second WR and a pass catching TE for awhile now. We'll see - they are a truly great team and I love me some Brees.

Defense the past few years has been proven to be underrated.

It was already skewing towards offense and the rule changes this season might have pushed it over the top.

We need to take a page out of last night's game - offense is sustainable if you have the legitimate QB. Defense isn't. You can maybe two cracks at the apple.

    Offense.

Get the QB or get rid of the GM.

    It's science.

I disagree. As the league tilts more towards offense building your defense is the long term key for success. What has happened to high powered offenses in the Super Bowl more often than not?

Sorry man, I just don’t agree.

Also, I didn’t read any of this post.

We're going to continue to see defensive teams only win one SB at most.

QB's and offense means more legitimate bites at the apple.

Huh... only teams I can think of that repeated or even went back to back were either well balanced (Pats) or defensive centric.

I am truly getting confused on whether I’m talking to Mo or King.
