Default Terrell Owens won't attend Hall of Fame induction ceremony

Terrell Owens, who was selected for enshrinement into the Pro Football Hall of Fame this year, has declined an invitation to attend the induction ceremony, he said Thursday.

"While I am incredibly appreciative of this opportunity, I have made the decision to publicly decline my invitation to attend the induction ceremony in Canton," Owens said in a statement released Thursday. "... After visiting Canton earlier this year, I came to the realization that I wish to celebrate what will be one of the most memorable days of my life, elsewhere."

Owens, who said he has let the Hall of Fame know of his intentions, added he will announce "where and when" he will celebrate his induction at a later date. He later tweeted out his statement with a simple "Sincerely, #81" added to it.

video on link - Steve Young talking about this, and kind of indicates he feels this might be because he was not chosen sooner.

I was on his side until he did this. Does he belong in the HOF? Hell yeah he does but why do this? This is possibly his greatest achievement. He just reached a pinnacle that is for the elite. Why would he want to be remembered like this? Ok, you're salty that you weren't 1st balot. Who cares? Many have got screwed by the system.

Suck it up T.O. and go to your ceremony!

He did ridiculous things his entire career for attention. Sit-ups in the driveway anyone?

This is just more of the same. He’s being the same guy he was his entire career.

I never got why people were bent over him doing situps in his driveway. Him and Chad Johnson made the NFL way more entertaining.

It has and had more to do with his own selfishness and lack of accountability with his behavior. As talented as TO was he was a cancer and a very selfish player which is why i rejoice that he never got a ring. Why anyone at this stage would be surprised at him avoiding the HOF is baffling. He loves him some him even to the very end.

Top five WR and personality of all-time.

He's a jackass and I really dislike him. But, eh. In regards to petty things going on in the Hall of Fame, the sportswriters/voters are more egregious and offensive than this every voting session.

Another good T.O. quote......"They love to hate me." LoL

It's funny the HoF voters want their votes back, as if their credibility is tarnished. Any Bronco fan would believe they get what they deserve.
