    Default Memorial Day . . .

Thank you to all in every branch of the service for your many sacrifices for our country . . .
those who gave life and limb and others who gave us a good portion of their lives so the rest
of us can enjoy our lives in the greatest nation the world has ever known. Some of you are
members of this board, but I'm not going to name you all for fear of missing someone. But
    you know who you are.

And let us pause to give tribute to our God Who made us strong in the first place . . .
Though He slay me, I will trust in Him . . . (Job 13:15)

I always feel conflicted when someone tells me “thank you “ on Memorial Day. Memorial Day is to honor those who gave their lives. I didn’t sacrifice my life, and yet I understand the sentiment behind what you’re saying.

I would imagine most who have served and are still living feel the same way.

I understand. But you all placed your life on the line simply by signing up. I wasn't allowed
to serve, having been classified 1-Y over a medical condition. My name could have been on
the Wall along with friends and family. I don't mind showing my gratitude.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
    In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
    In Flanders fields.
*The statements above are my opinions, unless they are links, because then they are links, which wouldn't make them my opinions, and I suppose stats aren't necessarily opinion, but they are certainly presented to support an opinion. Proceed accordingly.
