That seemed inevitable with the Chubb pick.
My hope is Ray plays well and Denver re-signs, but my guess is that if plays well and lets say he ends with 10 or more sacks, to re-sign I see where he won't get substantially more than the $9 million that he would get if Denver just picked the 5th year option.
I agree with some of you.
I think this is a good move with Ray. I like the kid! Injuries might have hurt him but he needs to step up this year.
He stands to make himself a lot of money if he plays well. Either from someone else or us.
Bill Williamson:
"The Broncos went from one of the more attractive organizations in the NFL to one in total disarray. McDaniels will go down as one of the most reviled figures in Denver sports history".

If Ray is in the 10 sack range I doubt Denver could re-sign him. From some of comments sound like Ray been slouch but numbers don't bear that out. Over the same 3 year period Ray's stats look very similar to Barrett's number other than sack and Ray still has even though he missed half of last season with injury. If Ray is healthy he's the better player.
Ray's significant season was due to Von getting double-teamed. IMO, of course.
With a true/elite rusher on the other side now in Chubb, teams won't be able to double team both of them. That's assuming Chubb is going to be as good as advertised.
