Chubb is Ware/Ray’s replacement, but it’s paramount getting all three (Von, Ray, Chubb) on the field at same time while they have the chance.

Btw, I’d still pick up Ray’s 5th year option unless Denver wants to pick another pass rusher next year. This is the blueprint, they’re not winning a SB without the ‘15 defense.
I notice the first name-last name-last name arrangement. Why the aversion to consistency?

He can play left or right side. It's positionless football. He's a pass rusher who can set the edge against the run. And now he's with one of the best defensive line coaches in the NFL.

I saw someone mention around 10-15 sacks justifying this pick. Maybe it's better to look at he and Von as a tandem. If Von gets less help against him, that should allow Von to get more sacks. And vice versa.
I don’t mean Chubb has to have 10-15 his rookie season, I’m saying that’s the kind of player he needs to be.

    Von Miller.
    Justin Houston.
    Kahlil Mack.

That caliber of player when all is said and done.

I was responding (mistakenly) to the notion that Chubb would be drafted to replace Malik Jackson role.

Here’s a cool look at the 24 hours leading up to the draft for Chubb:

Chubb is portrayed as the next Joey Bosa. Except that Denver's DL is even better with Miller and Chubb, than Bosa and Ingram.

I still don't understand the fan reaction. You might have wanted a QB, but Chubb was the consensus best defensive player in the NFL draft. His own agent didn't bother to outline any scenarios to Chubb beyond the 7th pick of the draft because they couldn't foresee him falling past the#7 pick in any scenario, and realistically 5 was as far as he could have fallen.

With the addition of Chubb, it really makes me wish we still had Wade Phillips. Perhaps Joe Woods will utilize this defense the same.

I wanted the 'Incredible Nelson', but Chubb will work.

There were some people that really wanted Rosen, but I haven't read anything really negative about Chubb being picked from those that wanted Rosen. If the rumors are true that Elway wanted Darnold then, yeah he could have fallen as far as the seventh pick. That said, all the draft scenarios that Elway and his staff came up with never had Chubb falling past four.

My prediction with Rosen is he will be a very high maintenance type of player. He will not hesitate to break the bank. Not saying he is alone with that, but he is all too aware of his health. Yes, all players should be more aware of concussions etx. However, I can see him self diagnosing himself for that more frequently than other players.

Injuries are going to be THE big issue with him.

Joey Bosa is strictly a DE, he never plays OLB.

Peppers played OLB for the Packers ... well!

Of course I wanted Rosen, I’m smart, but needing a QB is the only thing that keeps me from enjoying the Chubb pick thoroughly. Call that negative, call it whatever you want, I call it nuance. Free thinking, critical thinking, as well.

Jaded, you are amongst the most intellectual we have on this board.

Also, Jaded, I think it's time for me to change my name again. I'm thinking of the following: King Chubb; Chubb King; Chubby King; King Chubby; Chubbster; and finally, Aggressive Donut.

You’re going to turn your back on Von too?

Every year or two I must change my name. It's just my nature.
