Great hands and catch radius. Decent athlete but not sudden or explosive. Not a great blocker. I dont love the pick and we do seem to be obsessed with big 10 te. I might have preferred Gesicki to Sutton in the 2nd just because he brings that freakish Jimmy Graham or young Julius Thomas component to the passing game

That's two in two year from the same conference I'm not sure constitutes obsession just yet.

That's true, although Fumagalli's scouting reports seem to indicate he might make pretty
good depth. I look at Butt as an impact player (although we have to keep in mind that
this year he will be technically a rookie), and Hueurman seemed to flash a little bit toward
the end of last season, so the Broncos just might have a fairly solid TE group. Hope so.

i don't dislike the sutton pick at all, but i would have preferred goedert or geisicki as a big-bodied receiving target at that spot. . .

You're not so thrilled with Fumagalli?
He sounds like he has a career in pest control.

Then again, Jake Butt has a career in gay porn.

Poor guy. I'll bet he has had to contend with that all his life.

Regarding TE, lest we forget, Butt was considered by many as the best college TE in the
nation before his injury. If he comes back at his best, he will not only be the given for the
start, but he will be an impact player, IMO. But, of course, he also technically will be a
rookie, so we could be trapped into expecting too much of him, too.
Agreed on Butt. It's one of the reasons I was surprised by some calling for the Broncos to pick a TE early.

We'll see, Sanders could definitely move inside. One of the reasons I think Hamilton is the likely slot guy, is that he's a more polished route runner, NFL ready by all accounts. All of it is on paper, however, because we have seen far too many surprises, either players that were expected to make an impact fizzling in TC, or players that were supposed to be camp fodder, earning a prominent role.

Carlos Henderson was a bust last year before he was hurt. He trained with Kelly after practices last year, so who knows, he could have something to say about who will be the number three WR/slot role as well.

No one likes to be the butt of a joke and guess that goes double those whose last name is Butt.

3 in 4 years. Don't forget Heuerman. And "oh, by the way"...Austin Traylor is from Wisconsin and Matt Lacosse is from Illinois.

6 TE's on the roster and 5 are from the Big 10.

Meh...my wife's maiden name is Butts. Her and her brother pretty much own it and have fun with it.

Possibly due to the running game in the Big Ten. Big Ten TE’s have to know blocking assignments .

I was going to make this exact point, but you saved me the effort.

Everybody in the universe wishes he would just be cut. The players roll their eyes when asked any question about Paxton. They don't say anything but their lack of belief in Paxton is eloquent.

Two different coaching staffs have evaluated him, and don't want him any where near the starting job.

The fans don't want him. He's a bust.

The media spend all their time wondering why he's still on the roster.

NOBODY wants or believes in this guy - except Elway. And Elway is motivated purely by stubborn refusal to believe that HIS pick could be a flat bust, thus making Elway so spectacularly wrong.

And so everybody in the organization is forced to tiptoe around the obvious truth that Paxton just can't play dead in a western.

But, the solution is equally clear. Chad Kelly is going to beat him out and it's not going to be close, it will be blindingly obvious in the pre-season.

And if Keenum gets hurt they simply cannot put Paxton out there to fail again. The fans and players won't stand for it, the media will go nuts.

But isn't that the job of the #2 QB? To be ready to play if the starter goes down to injury? If Paxton isn't ready to even be a #2 then why is he even on the team? Chad Kelly is probably going to beat him out and if that happens I expect Lynch to be cut or traded for nothing.
