Anyway....it would be an awesome view to have seeing the wildlife. I admire your view everyday.
Just noticed this thread. I love nature and wildlife, and I appreciate your pictures.
The picture in your OP of the tractor in the field brings out the nostalgia in me.
Though He slay me, I will trust in Him . . . (Job 13:15)
OK, not an in focus shot. Looked out the window and saw a song bird on the fence. Over loosen the knob on the tripod gimble and the camera lens just drops, so I re-adjust, and quickly try and get a focus and as I get focus, he takes off. Hence the reason the fence is in focus, but he's not. Fortunately, I had experimented yesterday with faster shutter speeds, so while the camera would normally be sitting at 1/320 or so, it was on 1/1000, but still probably needed a faster shutter speed than that.
So, even though the bird is blurry, I think it's a cool shot.
Birds are active after a thunderstorm just rolled through.
Not the greatest pictures. I guess this was a big crow in the trees quite a ways off. Full zoom on the 500mm lens. I saw waiting, hoping I could get some in flight shots, but they aren't very good. I'm going to definitely improve my skill in this regard.
A few song birds. Really trying to work on capturing them in flight when they take off. Mixed results, but getting better. I think the high shutter speed, and sun going down led to too high an ISO and more grain than I would like.
Some more max zoom (and then some cropping in lightroom) of a couple cardinals that landed in a dead tree 150' or so away.
Took the dogs out back for a little while. They got HOT, as it's hot and humid.
Caught a song bird (no idea what type) on a hunting mission a few minutes ago. This was kind of cool, although I did want to call PETA on him for the inhumane treatment of that grass hopper.
Was sitting on the back deck this morning with the dogs before work and saw a couple woodpeckers fly by and land in a tree. Had a smaller zoom lens with me and no tripod and it was a ways off, so not overly sharp, but I still like the picture. Same dead tree the Cardinals were in the other day, but I was farther away on this shot, fortunately the woodpeckers are bigger.
They actually are pretty big. Not huge, but bigger than song birds. When they first flew by, I wasn't sure what they were until the landed.
These aren't from the exact same angle or using the same lens/zoom, so I couldn't really scale them identical, but you can look at the broken stump the wood pecker is on for reference and compare his size to the two cardinals.
that's a big pecker. . .
uhh. . .
