A Suzuki Sidekick, eh? Joe, what other ghey vehicles have you owned over the years?
Liberty is even worse.
That Excursion 4x2?

I have a 2005 Dakota 4x4 with the 4.7. I average 16.5 with a good mix of highway and city. Straight highway it's 18-19, straight city about 15. Many moons ago my Dad had off-road tires on it and it was getting closer to 12mpg, changing the tires to a more highway friendly tread certainly made a big difference.
Like Timmy's experience, if my wife drives the truck it drops to 12 mpg really quickly. It's really all about aggressive acceleration, she doesn't speed much but she gets up to the speed limit, or 5 over, quickly. That is all it takes to drop the MPG a LOT.
Most reliable car I've owned is a Lexus GS. Great car.
I'm driving a Ford now, a Volvo S60R. More fun to drive than the Lexus but way less reliable. For a long time I wondered why my ass would catch on fire when the seat warmer was on, turns out the element migrated to the leather and was burning a hole through it. Now I've got this cigarette burn in my driver seat. The radio volume will randomly go up and down. The clock runs 59 minutes to the hour. The passenger window decoupled from the motor arm when the window froze to the seal so I don't use it.
I used to be into cars in high school but don't see much of a benefit now. Tricking out or restoring a classic sounds like a cool hobby.
