Likely along with the fact that the Broncos didn't even bother to call him . . .

    Another strike against Elway.

Elway talked to his agent at the combine. I’m guessing he was told the Broncos were not really in the running

That, per your admission, is a guess. It may also be that Elway told the agent that Cousins
wasn't in the running. Elway implied that Keenum was their target all along. Of course, he's
going to say something like that with Keenum standing right there, but considering that
the Broncos know Keenum better than any other team (except the Vikings, of course), the
respective performances of the two QBs were strikingly similar (except that the Vikings
went deep into the playoffs, whereas the Redskins didn't even make it there), and that
Keenum cost millions less than Cousins, what Elway said was probably pretty close to true.

Thats not entirely true either because it was reported that Denver was very interested in Cousins. It makes more sense for Elway to say that Keenum was "his" guy after Cousins had already signed with Minny. It would make no sense for John to say that Keenum was the 2nd best option. Lol

You didn't read my comment very carefully. I prefaced it with that admission.

Nonetheless, it was reported by whom? Pundits. I never did hear directly from Elway or
anybody in the Broncos FO that they were directly going for Cousins. Did you?

Shefter and i would say he is pretty reliable. Plus, Cousins was the hottest FA out there so do you really believe that Denver wasnt at all interested? I think the timeline pretty much sums up how this all went down. Denver was interested in Cousins, then Jimmy G signs his massive contract to which ups the price tag for Kirk. It was then reported after that the Cardinals and Broncos had fallen out as options for Kirk and it came down to Minny and NY Jets. During this time Denver has to re-evaluate their position and most likely start looking into Keenum and then once Kirk signs with Minny Denver then manages to get Keenum signed. I have no doubt that JFE had a backup plan as i dont think it was going to be Cousins and nothing else but i dont believe for a second that they didnt have interest in Kirk, they would have been stupid not too.

Hawgs fly over my office every day; fantastic machines. One of our service managers is a crew chief who works on them (National Guard). I snapped a picture of one of the shell casings he had on his desk so I can share it here, with you in mind of course. I’m waiting until I can snap a photo of one flying overhead and I’ll post both in a new thread.
