Signing Keenum was a good move. Staying away from reaching for a QB at 5 is an equally good move. Reload the team...then find the right QB if he isn't on the team.
Build a team and THEN find a QB? Why not just say you’re content with the kind of QB’s they have? The Jets were at 6th pick, needed a QB and felt they had to TRADE UP, what do you expect to find at 8-8 and picking late teens or early 20’s?

This is ass-backwards and it gets mentioned far too often by otherwise intelligent people.

    Sign Garbage Minshew.

    Draft
    1st round— Cooper Dejean CB
    2nd round— Jack Sawyer OLB
    3rd round— Will Shipley RB
    4th round— Ricky Pearsall WR
    5th round— Ladd McKonkey WR
    6th round— Cash Jones RB
    7th round— Carson Steele RB

    This kinda blew my mind.
Didn't even realize that Keenum was paid in the LOWER half of QBs in the league.

    Hopefully he outplays his contract

Oh, yes. And it will be bottom 1/3 in 2 years after all the ginormous contracts for Aaron Rogers and other top QBs come in over the next couple years too. Those QB contracts are only going up. Hell, Mike Glennon earned $14m last year.

Let that sink in. Mike freakin' Glennon the Bears suck-ass QB.

Know what the 49ers are paying Garappolo for just 2018? $37 million. His average annual contract value is $27,500,000. All this for a guy who's started 6 games for them and a handful for the Patriots.

$18m for Keenum and only a 2 year commitment is a steal.

It's sort of difficult to argue against this, others will try...

Garoppolo has never lost an NFL game.

It’s that “infectious” competitive spirit free agent offensive tackle, and Denver-area native, Jeremiah Sirles said won over the Minnesota Vikings locker room last season.

“When he walked into the locker room nobody really knew what he was,” said Sirles, who co-hosted with Zach Bye on Thursday for “Stokley and Zach.”

“But he left that locker room being a quarterback that took over Week 2 and took us to the NFC Championship, and there wasn’t a single guy in the Vikings locker room that did not respect him, that did not hold him in an extremely high level of esteem as a person.”

And it’s those intangibles Sirles pointed to as evidence that Keenum may not be just a bridge quarterback but one who could lead the Broncos to a world championship.

“It’s not even a question in my mind if he’d be able to go in there and lead that team to a Super Bowl from that position,” Sirles said. “The way the dude works, the way the guy prepares, and the way he practices and plays are all Super Bowl-caliber type qualities.”
I don't know if he's right, but his former teammates believe in him.

Keenum is better than what we had last year, but the way people talk about him, you'd think we signed Aaron Rodgers.

I'm keeping my expectations low. If he surpasses them, awesome.

I'm in agreement - he can't be worse than what we had last year, but the bar is pretty low.

I did Slim. But in my defense that's only after four shots of whiskey and your head has to be tilted slightly to the right. For some it's to the left but for most it's to the right.
