I used to own a macaw and I took it on planes with me a few times. I had converted a cat carrier for bird use so I was allowed to let her rest under the seat in front of me where she could look up through the bars and watch me (I suppose I was the emotional support). I enjoyed walking with her through terminals and come up on crying children. "Wanna see my birdie?", I'd ask and the parents would always point to her and say to the child "Look! a biiiiirdy!" and whatever meltdown the child was having instantly disappeared. Worked like a charm.
