    Default Early 2018 Draft Poll

What shall we do with the the #5 overall pick in the 2018 draft?

Firm up our offensive line with Orlando Brown or Quentin Nelson?
Get our QBOTF (Rudolph, Jackson, Rosen, Mayfield, Darnold)?
Get a big body for the d-line?
Get a quick-twitch running back (Barkley or Guice)?
    Find some secondary help?
    Trade down?
I miss the old Mile High Stadium.

I will answer in 2 ways.....

    1. We get Capn kirk in FA. IF so, we go for Barkley.

    2. No Kirk in FA. If so, we go QB.

    In my ideal world:
    Kirk in FA

Go Arden Key at 5, Hernandez in 2, Nick Chubb in 3, RT in 3 (Comp pick).
    The Plan at the moment:

Draft: Trade a 3rd and 6th this year to a team to move up and get a 2nd next year (this will happen).

    Players I want:
Jake Ferguson (Jake Butt) or Jelani Woods or Jeremy Ruckert or Cade Otten (owen daniels) at TE- All 4th rd or later.
Troy Anderson LB 3rd/4th rd (yay Timmy!)
Neil Farrell, JR DL- run stuffer- bye purcell

gimme nelson at #5, or trade back a few spots for mcglinchey or orlando brown. . . i would consider minkah fitzpatrick if they think he can be a full-time lockdown corner. . .

Are there any 5 techs or 0 techs that should play at a high level day 1? I think Wolfe is fooling himself...

I think Brown is at best a RT in the NFL and maybe even a guard. DJ Fluker 2.0. Not worthy of a top 15 pick. Just my opinion.

I think Cousins price gets out of the range we are willing to spend. Not sure he'll get 30 million, but even anything over 27 is a reach that will hurt us long term. I'd love to get that FA QB and then draft Nelson, but alas, I think Mayfield ends up being the pick.

All the Nelson talk from many talking heads as best OG prospect in years. Take him but only if cousins is signed..... Which Elway will peruse hard imo

Problem is as we have learned you must have a QB. What is that worth to you?

    OT is Broncos' top priority.

But if you are looking for a RT top of round 2 is a good chance for one

Looks like this is breaking down to OL vs QB. Is there a QB that would be worthy of taking in the Top 5? Personally, I don't see one but the closest might be Mason Rudolph. Rosen and Darnold both seem inconsistent and a bit immature. Jackson was super as a soph and junior but his senior season seemed like a regression. Mayfield (whom the Broncos asked to have put on the North roster at the Senior Bowl) is a playmaker, no doubt, but he seems like Johnny Manziel with slightly less booze. Rudolph quietly puts up the numbers but how is he as a leader? Okie State didn't actually win anything while he was there. The Wyoming kid, Allen, is a non-starter. Wouldn't surprise me if he falls out of the first round. If you're taking a QB at 1/5, the last thing you want is someone who repeats all the issues we seemingly have with Lynch, otherwise, why take another Lynch?

Offensive lineman seems the better route but, then again, this is not a good year for OTs. A guard at #5? Usually, your best ones go in the 20s.

While trading down sounds like a cop-out answer, I think the Broncos might be smartest to do just that. If there's anyone offering a 2019 first-rounder as part of a deal, that could put you in position to trade up in next year's draft. But those trade-down options aren't as available as folks always think they will be. IMO, this is not a great draft class except at RB and edge-rusher.

If I couldn't trade down, I think I'd take the best OL available since the need is obvious or grab Barkley if he's there.

Unlike many of you, I'm okay with letting the Siemein/Lynch experiment last one more year if necessary before I'd overspend on Cousins or Taylor. Now, if I could get a QB like Manning/Rivers/Brees on a short contract, I'd be more interested in that while we look for a more permanent answer.

This depends too much on free agency to answer now, but I'd probably prefer to either draft Nelson, Barkley, or trade down.

If you don't sign a QB in FA, and you don't trade up and get a guy, it's a busted draft most likely. Because then what? We trot out TS, win six-eight games again, and just continue to be out of range for a real QB? Is the crop next year so promising that we should delay? If not, then the time is now.
