I can't speak for anyone else's use of mayo. This band I used to listen to said they were retiring and would not come back. If they ever came back, they'd let every fan feed them a spoon full of mayo.

They unretired, but no mayo was served... I feel kind of jiffed and frequently use that in place of eating crow when wrong.
