    We see so many players whose performances seem to go a bit south after a big payday.
    It seems CHJ's performance only gets better . . .

    This is something that also goes a long way towards why Denver is still a place where free agents want to play. Good work John.

    Elway’s draft presser:

    Nicki Jhabvala
    @NickiJhabvala
    John Elway: "We will take the best player that's best for the Denver Broncos."

    Lindsay Jones
    @bylindsayhjones
    Elway: "I'm open to trading." Said he'll go through trade scenarios on Monday. Board will be finalized later today.

    Andrew Mason
    @MaseDenver
    Elway, on balancing long-term benefit vs. short-term benefit: “That’s part of my job, to not only figure out what’s best for the organization now, but long-term."

    Nicki Jhabvala
    @NickiJhabvala
    Elway on C.J. Anderson: "C.J. was a great player for us and had a great year last year. ... That's part of football. It's always tough to have to make those types of decisions."

    Nicki Jhabvala
    @NickiJhabvala
    John Elway: "We try to look at what next year's draft is going to look like. ... We'll have a general idea, but it's not real in-depth."

    Andrew Mason
    @MaseDenver
    Elway: This draft is “thinner at a lot of positions” than some have been in the past, but it’s “deep” at some positions, too. He mentioned RB, CB and QB as areas of depth when asked about this at the NFL meeting in Orlando last month.

    Andrew Mason
    @MaseDenver
    Elway, on the QBs: “We’ve stacked them and got them in order,” says that the fit for the team is a factor in determining how QBs are prioritized.

    Andrew Mason
    @MaseDenver
    Elway: “Usually at the top of the [draft] board, guys don’t get eliminated”

    Nicki Jhabvala
    @NickiJhabvala
    Elway said they haven't made a decision yet on picking up Shane Ray's fifth-year option.

    Andrew Mason
    @MaseDenver
    Elway: Baker Mayfield is tall enough to compete in the NFL … “What he’s done, and the numbers that he’s put up … I think he’s overcome the size issue"

    Troy Renck
    @TroyRenck
    #Broncos Elway on draft picks that didn't play last year, like Butt, Henderson, etc. "We are hoping they come in and help us. DeMarcus lost weight to move outside. Our expectation is that class participates a lot more" #Denver7

    Troy Renck
    @TroyRenck
    #Broncos Elway on @ChrisHarrisJr incentives "He deserved it. It was the right thing for us to do. Glad to come an agreement and incentivize him." #Denver7

    Troy Renck
    @TroyRenck
    #Broncos Elway "We try to learn from the mistakes that you make. It's tough. There are so many hidden things you can't see in background and character that allow them to have successful careers. We are always evaluating ourselves." #Denver7

    Ryan Koenigsberg
    @RyanKoenigsberg
    John Elway: "It's a deep running back class as iI'm sure you've heard... We feel good about the fact that we'll be able to get a good one."

    Nicki Jhabvala
    @NickiJhabvala
    Elway said calls to other teams about possibly moving in the draft typically start next week.

    Troy Renck
    @TroyRenck
    #Broncos Elway said they go through mock drafts through 3 rounds. Have entire scouting staff involved. Try to keep multiple scenarios. And will start calling teams next week to see who is interested in moving up and down. #Denver7

    Zac Stevens
    @ZacStevensBSN
    John Elway on Gary Kubiak: “Gary is a very good evaluator so his suggestions and views are very important”

    Andrew Mason
    @MaseDenver
    Elway: “Case is our starter … every situation for young QBs is different. It’s different in today’s world because of the kind of football team those guys step into."

    Andrew Mason
    @MaseDenver
    Elway, on the top 4 QBs: There is “not yet” a consensus in the draft room as to how they stack up.

    Andrew Mason
    @MaseDenver
    Elway said he was drawn more to the big-arm type of QB 6-7 years ago, but then Peyton Manning came in, and Elway saw the success of the “more cerebral type” of QB.

    Troy Renck
    @TroyRenck
    Elway said the one thing I have learned "Is you have to be able to win from the pocket... if can get around that is an added bonus. “I’ve learned a lot since doing this job about which quarterbacks have success and which don’t” #Denver7

    Andrew Mason
    @MaseDenver
    Elway said he does not have more than 4 QBs as first-rounders

    Nicki Jhabvala
    @NickiJhabvala
    Elway on @AqibTalib21: "I like Aqib. He did a lot of great things for us. He causes a lot of issues one way or the other (laughs). He was a big part of our Super Bowl team and I'm glad it worked out."

    Andrew Mason
    @MaseDenver
    Elway: Adam Gotsis’ situation doesn’t affect how they attack the draft, but “anytime something like that is out there, you have to take it into consideration"

    So the first thing he does after Manning leaves is draft a big armed NON cerebral QB lol.

    He’s wrong, he’s not finding another PFM, even if they’re 5’-8”.

    So they took Gotsis’ situation into consideration but not Brock’s?

    Seems legit.

    Talib is the better player but they could/should keep both.

    But Harris is under contract, so if they’re easily obtainable bonuses it amounts to a raise and this makes no sense, conversely it does make sense if they think Jr wasn’t giving it all to begin with. Which doesn’t make sense.
