Default Sources: Jerry Richardson, Panthers Have Made Multiple Confidential Payouts for Workplace Misconduct, Including Sexual Harassment and Use of a Racial Slur

    Quickly

SI has learned that at least four former Panthers employees have received ‘significant’ monetary settlements due to inappropriate workplace comments and conduct by owner Jerry Richardson, including sexually suggestive language and behavior, and on at least one occasion directing a racial slur at an African-American Panthers scout

The settlements came with non-disclosure requirements forbidding the parties from discussing the details

The Panthers declined to comment to SI beyond reiterating their statement issued on Friday that the team had commenced an internal investigation into allegations of workplace misconduct by Richardson. The NFL has reportedly taken over the investigation

If everything in this article is true, and if the NFL has taken over the investigation, will be interesting to see what the outcome is. Could the NFL force Richardson to sell the team, or hit him with a major fine?

During the 2011 lockout, Richardson was either intensely miserly or intensely cost-conscious, depending on your view. He reportedly implored his peers, “We signed a [expletive] deal last time, and we're going to stick together and take back our league and [expletive] do something about it.” He also memorably insulted Peyton Manning during a negotiation, reportedly belittling the quarterback’s knowledge of player safety and asking, “Do I need to help you read a revenue chart, son?”
PFM should offer to show him what a SB ring looks like.

Default Carolina Panthers owner Jerry Richardson selling team

Carolina Panthers owner Jerry Richardson will put the NFL franchise up for sale after the end of this season in the wake of accusations against him that include sexual harassment a racial slur toward a scout who has since left the team.

"There has been no greater mission or purpose in my life than to have brought an NFL franchise to Charlotte," Richardson said Sunday in a news release. "The obstacles back then were significant, and some even questioned whether our community could or would support professional football. But I always knew that if given the chance, The Carolinas would rise to the occasion."

I'll probably get an overreaction by some of you, but when did a racial slur become a crime? I don't practice it, and don't condone, but is it a crime? Perhaps unethical, especially for a business owner.

When done during the course of conducting business as it then becomes discriminatory or harassing. Civil rights legislation.

Everyone is looking for a payout. Can I just go back to the 80s and freeze time?

They were back then as well. We've been a very litigious society as long as I remember

Will they keep the statue of Richardson that he built in his own honor?

Default Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs eyes Carolina Panthers, wants to sign Kaepernick

Hip hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs said he hopes to buy the Carolina Panthers so he can sign Colin Kaepernick after the team’s current owner announced he will sell the franchise amid sexual misconduct allegations.

"I would like to buy the @Panthers. Spread the word. Retweet!" Combs wrote on Twitter Sunday evening, noting that he could become the NFL’s first majority African-American owner. "There are no majority African-American NFL owners. Let's make history.”

Combs repeated his interest later on Instagram and pledged to sign Kaepernick. He said he would let the former 49ers quarterback compete with Cam Newton for the starting position.

Good to see Diddy is already acting like a foolish owner.
