You are the Texas 2A state champ ref. You are supposed to demand an apology from me.

They obviously see. It's just that John Elway does not WANT to win any more games this season. What possible advantage to the Broncos long term is there from winning a couple of meaningless games at the end of a lost season?

None. It just gives them a worse draft pick and prevents John Elway from being able to trade up to #2 and get a QB like Sam Darnold or Josh Rosen, if say, the Colts wind up with that pick and don't want to draft a QB. Or if the Browns want to move down and take Kessler at #8 or something, while picking up a 2nd round pick to strengthen their roster.

All kinds of trades are possible if you are drafting in the top 5 or 6 picks. A move up to #2 is definitely possible, if either of the top 2 teams decide they don't want to stay in that draft position.

You can argue that the Browns and Giants want a QB and will draft #1 and #2. Maybe. But, maybe the Colts with 3 wins sneak in there. Or maybe a trade happens anyway. Or perhaps Elway wants someone other than Darnold or Rosen and knows some other team wants his guy and needs a top 10 pick to get him.

In short, if Elway is really committed to drafting a top 10 QB to be his future franchise QB, then he obviously wants the best draft pick he can get.

VJ has proven himself by those two consecutive wins - in Elway's eyes. Now Elway has an excuse to keep VJ around for next year which is what he wanted - badly. Nothing more to be proven this season.

Are the players happy with it? No. Screw them quite frankly. They lost 8 in a row. They get no say in the matter.

    Sounds about right Cugel.

Wonder why Klis keeps dealing his readership 2-7 off-suit and sends the pocket aces to the Broncos.
