Because some where interested in hand size.
"We saw it…. the hussars let loose their horses. God, what power! They ran through the smoke and the sound was like that of a thousand blacksmiths beating with a thousand hammers

They rush on to the Swedes! They crash into the Swedish riters…. Overwhelm them! They crash into the second regiment - Overwhelmed! Resistance collapses, dissolves, they move forward as easily as if they were parading on a grand boulevard

Based on our personal experience, height is vastly overrated.

The kid is growing on me.

Height is good enough, and good thickness for his height. The only thing that concerns me is the handsize. However, he does seem to be able to spin it pretty well. Does he have a history of fumbles?

From listening to the reports from the senior bowl I don't want any part of Josh Allen.

I love his attitude and work ethic, but the accuracy issues are a concern

Also ran around a 4.4 in the 40, has hands like catchers mits, and lit up a conference better known for strong defenses at a school not known for producing QBs.

Occasionally local radio has info worth sharing. Here's some insight from Joel Klatt.

Allen's accuracy concerns are overblown. Said he finally got to watch 3 Wyoming games and was impressed--"that's an NFL throw...incomplete. that's an NFL throw...incomplete. that's an NFL throw...incomplete." Said it translated to first day of senior bowl in which Allen was derided for accuracy, a better lens was that college receivers had never seen such a talent and weren't ready for it, they had to adjust. He threw 66mph for chrissake. Scuttlebutt of Browns being highly interested in Allen.

Mayfield excelling in off-platform mid-field touch/anticipation/accuracy delivery. Has ability to see middle of field and manipulate or recognize windows between LB and safety and doesn't need whole body to deliver ball with enough power to fit in windows. Best RPO QB he has seen in his life.

Said between the two, both are valid choices at 5, depends on the philosophy of your offense. The strengths of each will translate to an asymmetric advantage on offense but only if used thoughtfully, don't cram Mayfield's square peg into a round hole.

If forced to choose at 5, he'd take Mayfield because of his superior anticipation, shows a nuanced understanding of how defenses try to take away windows and tends to outmaneuver/outthink them.

Hand size is overblown - it's the last thing on 'the list' if you will.

Mayfield's game is different - if he was trying to play like Wilson, I think his forty time would be a more compelling problem, but the point is taken. The conference argumentation and school are very valid.

Fast...good hands...tough conference. You basically just made the argument that JT Barrett is a better prospect than Baker Mayfield

Can we just go get the real Drew Brees?
*The statements above are my opinions, unless they are links, because then they are links, which wouldn't make them my opinions, and I suppose stats aren't necessarily opinion, but they are certainly presented to support an opinion. Proceed accordingly.

Total defense top 20 by conference...

    SEC - 6
    Big 10 - 5
    ACC - 4
    PAC 12 - 3
    Big 12 - 1

As a side note, Mayfield played 4 games against top 20 defenses this year. 3-1 record, 69% comp, 1249 yards, 12 TD, 1 INT.

Games against top 20 defenses by other QB prospects...
    Rosen - 0
    Darnold - 1, 51% comp, 0 TD, 1 INT
    Allen - 0
    Rudolph - 2, 59% comp, 4 TD, 2 INT
    Jackson - 3, 50% comp, 5 TD, 6 INT

Funny how the Big 12 players had the better numbers
