So a staple is to mean that's the only time?

Because he did it one way in college he can only do it that way in the pros?

And that concept, which is analogous to hot reads, seems pretty useful to me.

It's something of a concern, but it isn't galactic.

I actually think it's maybe the most important point I've heard on Mayfield this offseason. Or it clearly communicated a concern that I've had with him - which is that he's not a pocket passer who can throw guys open in coverage, he's an improviser who is at his best when the play breaks down. I've been making the Russell Wilson comparison as a reason to support Mayfield - but you've got Russell Wilson's offensive coordinator basically saying that Mayfield doesn't possess the same skillset that attracted them to Wilson.

So if you bring in an undersized guy who is not ready to read NFL defenses or make contested throws then you've got a bust on your hands.

I would almost take him off our board at 5 - it's just too high for a guy who is not ready to step in and be an NFL starter on day 1.

It is called basic sarcasm. He aeemed to read the part about shallow crosses, but missed the important points in regards to the differences between what Oklahoma runs, and what the NFL version is.

    You, did not get that?

Did that article really say they only used the Oklahoma version?

Do you really, want to come onto a message board, and be crappy with your fellow fans, while stating somewhat valid but far from authoritative points?

Yeah, no one on here treats anyone poorly. Got it. Being a bit sarcastic is not a big ******* deal. Certainly did not mean to offend his or your delicate little sensibilities. Then again, I dont give a shit.

The fact is Bevell made some astute observations and instead you are more concerned that I was a bit sarcastic. Pathetic.

It's not an impossible transition, but the odds are more stacked against them... And then when they are also physically undersized and not reliant on passing from the pocket, there start to be a few too many red flags for a #5 pick IMO.

I've seen scouts say that he's ready to play at day one. And to be honest, more and more guys aren't day one ready - they're still going out there, too. It's just a fact of life.

i don't particularly want mayfield at five. . . the idea that spread QBS can't translate is outdated, though. . .

Let's try it this way - you're overly abrasive and come across as a know-it-all while making a bunch of poor arguments. The point is that the board is more enjoyable when people aren't massive jerks for no reason other than the fact that they are in love with themselves.

The fact is that you're taking his points and trying to apply them broadly and comprehensively. Again, do you mean to tell me that he only threw 'those' slants and passes? Because that's what you seem to be presenting. Or, here's another way, you're not nearly smart or informed enough to be so pompous.

Is it? I mean I understand that teams have found a way to incorporate RPO and some spread concepts - but there is a reason nobody is exclusively running those offenses... All of the QBs you listed above haven't done shit. I think you're being overly dismissive here.

    You, did not get that?

    I did, did get that.

I speak fluent sarcasm too. I did, did not pick up on that dialect though.
    The Plan at the moment:

Draft: Trade a 3rd and 6th this year to a team to move up and get a 2nd next year (this will happen).

    Players I want:
Jake Ferguson (Jake Butt) or Jelani Woods or Jeremy Ruckert or Cade Otten (owen daniels) at TE- All 4th rd or later.
Troy Anderson LB 3rd/4th rd (yay Timmy!)
Neil Farrell, JR DL- run stuffer- bye purcell

Carr ran a similar offense at Fresno. QB’s can adapt if they’re motivated and don’t have rocks in their head.
