VJ is done, no way this season goes over well with Elway. VJ is only still the Coach because Musgrave and Woods are not worthy of the interim tag. In the off-season we will be getting a brand new coaching staff, a staff that can work to get the best out of Keenum. I think that's who Elway will target, and we will draft a QB in rd. 1 or 2 of the draft as well. Whether we like it or not the season is what it is. There is to much locker room drama, noise and rumor for him to be worthy of staying.
    Denver's 2024 George Paton Draft/FA plan

    Draft
    RD1- TE Brock Bowers, GA
    RD3- QB Spencer Rattler, SC
    RD4- CB Josh Newton, TCU
    RD5- S Reggie Pearson, OK
RD5- C Michael Jurgens, Wake Forest
RD6- K Jonah Dalmas, Boise St

I think they need to bring in 2 QBs next year.

    Brett Rypien PLEASE.

At this point, it makes more sense to wait until the season is over.
Now it makes to wait because we're at the end bye-week, but it made sense at the beginning of the week. If the motive is to save face, it doesn't matter when the firing takes place. Personally, I don't think firing Joseph will be about or just about saving face. It's about job performance. The play calling at best is mixed bag, the play calling and clock management at the end of the game poor to say the least.

It's pretty much rock bottom. The radio talk shows are all full of "how Vance Joseph's poor coaching decisions cost the Broncos the game" talk. But, that plays to the Broncos advantage in the long run.

After the SB, Elway thought "we can win it again with this great defense, if we get a QB capable of leading us" and he didn't. He thought Brock Osweiler was the answer. Nope. Paxton Lynch? Nope. Trevor then? Nope. Lynch again? Nope. How about Osweiler part II? Nope.

Then he refused to draft a developmental QB because "we're not kicking Paxton to the curb." That was in his presser after the draft. SO, the plan was to continue to develop Paxton and have Case Keenum for 2 years.

Then Paxton flamed out and we got the Chad Kelly boomlet. Nope. Keenum then proved he's a career backup.

So, here we are. It's not about Elway saving face. It's about rebuilding the team to the point where they can get into the playoffs. And they need a franchise QB to do that.

Thus, the only problem is "how can we possibly lose more games than the Raiders, Cardinals, Giants, Bills, 49ers Browns and Jets," all of whom have worse records than the Broncos. Or at least some of them, since losing more than the Giants or Raiders is impossible.

I like Rypien, but if we draft him earlier than the our 3rd pick I will be very concerned. I see a journeyman quarterback in Rypien.

He strikes me as a less athletic Keenum. Avg arm. Sub athlete. Noooooo

The guy is pegged right now as what a middle round (4th or 5th) pick at best? So, chances are that is all he will end of being.

That's just the problem. Nobody has a flippin' clue who will be great, who just mediocre and who, well. . . . Paxton Lynch!

The Broncos could have drafted Russell Wilson instead of Brock Osweiler and we wouldn't be having this discussion.

But, they didn't because their scouts knew no more than the rest of the league that let him fall to the 3rd round.

The same thing for Ben Roethlisberger who fell to #14, Drew Brees 2nd round, Jimmy Garopolo, 2nd round, Aaron Rodgers 20, etc. And Kurt Warner wasn't drafted at all, yet holds or held most of the SB passing records.

I knew who would be mediocre.

He could move into rd 3. with a solid off-season. He has a NFL skillset but he isn't in that forecast range yet, right now your top 3 QB's are Herbert, Lock, Finely......Herbert and Lock are the only 1st rounders projected at the moment with Herbert considered top 10(probably the giants lol) and lock top 20 (Maybe us or Oakland if they are done with Carr), but finley could sneak in if a team was desperate.

Since Vance keeps screwing up, this is a pretty safe conclusion. Just to look at the last game, they elected to kick a 51 yard FG. But, McManus is about 30% more effective from 40-49 yards. They could have tried to get the ball a little closer.

If they had done that, they would very probably have beaten the Texans. Then this season would look rather different - 4-5 is still in playoff contention in the AFC. 3-6 is season ending toast.

So, Vance simply cannot remain. He's not head coaching material. End of story.

Personally, I'd be fine if they fired him today. But, Elway won't do that because the team is still trying hard for him. They haven't quit.

But, they are facing @Chargers, Steelers and that means 3-8. At that point we'll see if the wheels fall off totally or whether they rally to beat the weak-sisters on the schedule - the Raiders, the Browns, the 49ers. That would produce 6 wins.

If he can find a ******* good OC and build a system to support a young QB then I'm down.

Broncos could probably use a John Harbaugh type of Coach at the moment, someone with “pelts on the wall”.

He’s a proven version of Dave Toub.

Would be better if he could bring some former defensive staff with him, not named Wink, that is.
