All too often, the abused child reminds the abuser of their spouse/significant other/co-parent in a powerfully negative way. So sad. All the anger intended for someone else redirected to an innocent child.

I assumed it meant even though that crazy bitch cooked 2 of her kids she might have treated the 3rd child much differently. (better)

Yeah, all kids take on certain roles on families. Mostly these are benign, but someone they go to extremes. Some children are viewed as evil, others as angels.
