Sounds like our QB situation is dire...
So tired of people expecting a 4 TD 0 Int 158 QBR as an achievable norm.

VJ said in his post game that Oakland started playing a lot of shell/cover 2 which was taking DT and Sanders out of the plays. As a result, they were calling plays based on the looks they were getting. Could be coach-speak but it didn't sound like they were having issues with the way Siemian was playing. Especially since Trevor didn't have any of those hold-your-breath, shoulda been picked throws this game.
There was a point 3rd qtr where I was screaming pass the effing ball, but it was after Watson got hurt so it was possible they were down pass protection.
Something just seems to be off, it's not even all on Siemian, but I think he's taking the brunt of it. I think it may be perceived as being him, but had a lot more to do with the play calls.
They are moving the ball with relative ease, but stalling within the 30. They get down there no issue, but settle for 3. Ugh it was annoying.
No one expects that. No one is advocating for that.
These numbers are finite, but there's a point to be made: the average Pro Bowl quarterback the last 10 years (not an unattainable goal, especially if you want to have a competitive team, IMO), has averaged 22.34 completions, 34.63 attempts, 266.22 yards, 1.88 TDs and .74 INTs per game. Siemian is averaging 20.44, 34, 238.28, 1.39, .78. It seems finite, and looks finite, but that's the difference between the average year for a Pro Bowler (4,216 yards, 29 TDs, 11 INT) and Siemian, where he is right now (3,700 yards, 19 TDs, 11 INT, estimated 16 game season). And I believe that can be the difference between 8-8 and 10-6 or 12-4.
It's not horrible. It's not like we're looking at someone who is not competent and should be totally and completely benched and cut. But it has to improve.
The first two games were encouraging. That improvement looked like it was there. Not so much the last two games. I'm not going to have any qualms with expecting better than 16-26, 179, 1-0.
These things are all stat based. But I see this all with the eye test too. All of his deep throws were off today. His out and deep curl passes looked weak. This was supposed to be a depleted Raider defensive backfield and I thought Denver could exploit it. They didn't at all. I'm glad Denver enters the bye at 3-1, much better than 2-2, but it still doesn't feel like a complete performance to me. And not just at quarterback, though that's what I'm referencing in this post.
I think Mack sacked Siemian after Watson went down, the almost strip sack play that was overturned, so that would've made sense.
You guys have the defense to play conservative, but not to the point of overkill. We had several backups out there so I'm surprised your offense didn't attack them more.
