That's essentially what I tried to explain earlier about the play. It is true that when a
QB throws an INT, he owns it. Even Peyton Manning said that, and he didn't throw a
whole lot of them that were his fault. But in this case, Siemian threw the ball where
he expected DT to be, not where he was at the time. DT wasn't even looking Trevor's
way when Trevor threw the ball. It was a timing pass that misfired, a failure in
communication between the QB and the receiver.
Though He slay me, I will trust in Him . . . (Job 13:15)
Was just reading an NFL.com article and DT said he ****** up. Said he could have taken it to the house if he had run the right route. I'm guessing what he means is based on the defense, he should have altered his route, and that's what Siemien was expecting.
"My f--- up," Thomas said. "It was a miscommunication, and I wasn't where Trevor expected me to be. Instead of running a post and stopping, I should have broken it off and run a 'thimble' -- it's actually very similar to what I ran in that playoff game when I caught the pass from Tebow. We sucked up the linebacker, and nobody was on the backside -- and I probably would have gone the distance this time, too. That was on me."
