Don't know who Schrags is, but without context of what Ward says happened this seems a bit of hyperbole.

i don't disagree with him. . . guys know that it's a business, but team captains don't typically expect to be unceremoniously cast off at the 11th hour. . . just as a fan, it does sting a little to see them dump him because he's slowed with a hamstring problem, while we're carrying dead roster spots for guys like lynch and booker, who haven't proven or accomplished anything. . . no one is going to cry for him given the salaries involved, but IMO it really didn't feel like he was shown much respect, as they didn't even offer him a chance to renegotiate. . . it is what it is. . . i thank him for his time here, and now hope that the young guys will be better than he was. . .

With the advent of the Denver Broncos OTA's yesterday it is good to finally say — football is finally back.

A lot of interesting tidbits exist from yesterday's opening practice, but perhaps the most exciting news of all comes courtesy of the Denver Channel's Troy Renck, who broke an exclusive report that stated the Broncos and strong safety T.J. Ward have had preliminary contract extension discussions. It's a surprise for certain, but under the leadership of John Elway, the Broncos haven't been shy about rewarding players who have performed at a high-level for the team. Ward's play in his three seasons with the team has certainly been impressive, and a contract extension is certainly merited.

Right now, no one except John Elway and TJ knows exactly what was discussed. Did John throw out a salary figure that TJ did not like? Did TJ let John know what kind of a salary he wanted?
