Latest models has it going out into the gulf briefly and then heading back in over Houston in a day or so. Shouldn't be over the gulf long enough and it's already churned up water, so doesn't sound like it will rebuild any strength, but probably does pick up more water and just keeps it alive. With the big high pressure system over the mid west and no jet stream, there is nothing to move this thing.
I wonder how SR is doing?
My uncle in Port Arthur is fine. He lives across the street from the levy. His neighbors aren't doing as well because he sits higher than they do. He just had a few inches in his garage.

That would be awesome. Tell him we're thinking of him and his fam, and hope things are going well with the storm and in life.
Pathetic on the victims part.....People, from around the area, are shooting at the folks and trying to steal their boats of the ones trying to help out. The rescuers are turning around and going home.
Or they watched footage of Katrina and thought that's how they're supposed to do it. Honestly, I've come be to believe that we have a very tenuous grasp on civilized society. If there's a power vacuum people will take advantage. The 1% fringe of society will always show themselves at times like this, or really any excuse will work, they'll just take advantage of the chaos and lack of law enforcement or anonymity.

Houston is a fast growing city that has overdeveloped over areas that originally used to absorb water. We will make it through this, but there needs to be additional drainage to accompany the rapid development of our neighborhoods. I managed to make it out of town (for a wedding flight I had booked weeks ago) and am fortunate to not have a home in a flood prone neighborhood, but our city becomes more and more vulnerable each year. The tax day floods 2 years ago were a major warning sign that our city's infrastructure are no longer equipped to handle heavy rain. The total property damage bill for Henry is going to far eclipse Ike, would have probably been better for the city to have taken a direct hit rather than this "get hit by the dirty end of the storm then get boomeranged" crap. This whole situation just completely sucks.
