The Miami Marlins and owner Jeffrey Loria have reached an agreement to sell the team to a group headed by Derek Jeter and financier Bruce Sherman, according to multiple reports. The club has not confirmed the reports.

MLB Network insider Ken Rosenthal reported -- as did the Miami Herald earlier -- that the Sherman-Jeter group won the bidding, with Sherman holding the controlling interest and plans for Jeter to be the team's CEO.

The sale would reportedly be for $1.2 billion, which would rank as the second-highest price for an MLB team sale in history, behind only the Dodgers' $2 billion sale in 2012.
