Why would Jamaal Charles buy drinks for people who made a bet with U29?

We can know whether he's making the team by how they use him in the pre-season. If he plays in game 3 but only briefly, he's making the team. If he plays only in week 4 he's on the bubble. The exception would be if they're all lying and his knee really is still not 100% and they are holding him out for medical reasons.

But, in that case, they wouldn't have signed him. Their doctors looked at the knee and said "OK." Other teams reportedly disagreed and medically rejected him (Chiefs did for instance).

The one thing the Broncos won't do is simply cut Charles without giving him any chance to show what he can do. That just wouldn't make sense.

I think they are satisfied he can go, but are keeping him out of serious contact because they want to save him for the regular season. I think that because, why else are they keeping him out of the first 2 games?
