So is Paxton going to show up next week against SF or is Trevor going to win this by default?
I hope I'm wrong, but I think at the minimum he needs one more year. He might never be ready...
People think things like Brady-Belichek, Harris-Talib-Ward-Stewart, Manning-Harrison, etc. just happen if you mix the ingredients, but it can take a lot of time, experience, reps, mistakes, and days upon days of hard work. Neither QB has had enough reps with targets or days with McCoy's system to show mastery.

The reality is that we had to rebuild fully HALF OUR OFFENSE from scratch after the SB: The five linemen were a disaster, and Oz chasing a big payday left us a QB roster whose combined experience consisted of a SINGLE KNEELDOWN. Of those 6 positions, Garcia and Paradis are the only one still on the team, and the first is on the bubble since upgraded to Leary, while Paradis was hurt so badly last year that he STILL isn't a full participant in camp—but STARTED ALL 16 GAMES in worse condition last year.
Given all that, it's nothing short of miraculous we had a winning season with a SB Champs schedule and a pair of playoff teams in our division. Look at what we faced:
Week 1: Defending Conference Champs
Week 3: @Defending AFCN Champs
Week 5: Eventual Conference Champs
Week 7: Defending and Eventual AFCS Champs
Week 9: @Eventual AFC Wildcard
Week 12: Previous AFC Wildcard, Eventual AFCW Champs
Week 15: Defending AFCE Champs, Eventual World Champs
Week 16: @Previous AFC Wildcard, Eventual AFCW Champs
Week 17: Eventual AFC Wildcard
NINE games against teams either fresh off and/or in the midst of playoff runs, including ALL SB teams of the past two seasons (except us, obviously.) With a rebuilt line and untried 7th round QB, we somehow emerged from that gauntlet with a winning season. Don't expect 2017 to go even that well; the line's still rebuilding, QB still unsure and D missing yet more starters, not to mention the DC that made those individual talents so dominantly cohesive. PLUS new playbooks on BOTH sides of the ball.
"Sell me on a Broncos QB"? Sell me on a Broncos SEASON first, THEN the QB, not the reverse.
Oh, valid point. I thought you meant all starters, you should take the time to be more descriptive, don't be shy. —Jaded

Unfortunately this is true, he may never develop. But if teams can't be more patient than fans they shouldn't bother drafting spread QB's at all.
Looked to me like he's starting from scratch with new offense and he's clearly going to need more reps than Siemian to retain what's being taught. Doesn't mean he's stupid or has low football IQ, it's a function of his lack of development in college.
It's also clear that he's the better QB once he has learned the offense.
