August is the new September.

Why more schools are starting the year in early August?

My 8-year old niece is going back to school this Monday. It is so weird! August? Really?! It is August and it is still summer. Heh.

Back in my heyday, our school started on the 1st or 2nd week of September.

August is the new September. SMH.

I always started school in August growing up.

Scotland starts back next week

England is September

Ours start second week of September

New Orleans area schools start next week. They also get a week or two off for Mardi Gras...

Around here I think it's always been end of August if I remember correctly. Was September when I was very young in NY.

When I went to school...we started the week after Labor Day and got out the first week in June. Breaks were short and not many of them; a week and a half at Christmas, two days at Thanksgiving and two days at Easter.

It seems more time is taken off during the school year nowadays in Louisiana schools. We never had a week off for Mardi Gras. We didn't have Martin Luther King Day ( he deserves his honor). There seems to be a lot of added days over the years. Late 70s to 91......I remember starting after Labor Day, and getting out before Memorial Day.
