Thread: Jonathan Stewart: No one can cover Christian McCaffrey 1-on-1

SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- Christian McCaffrey has received a lot of praise since the Carolina Panthers selected him with the eighth pick of the NFL draft, but none higher than he got Sunday from his backfield mate.

"He's pretty unstoppable as far as coming out of the backfield and running routes,'' Pro Bowl running back Jonathan Stewart said. "I can tell you now there's not going to be anybody in this league that can cover him one-on-one.

"He's a special player.''

The Panthers took McCaffrey in the first round because of his versatility as a running back and receiver. He has shown throughout the first week of training camp few can stay with him in open space.

He already has gotten the best of Pro Bowl linebackers Luke Kuechly and Thomas Davis with open-field moves. Kuechly said the former Stanford star has "shakes.''

Too bad Cam Newton is his QB. People are going to bump him off his routes at the LOS and Newton will panic and fall over or heave the ball 60 yards towards the safety.

Why do we care what Jonathan Stewart thinks about him anyway? I mean, he's not even the host of The Daily Show anymore...

I sw a gif today of McCaffrey juking Kuechly twice on one play. So yeah, I'd believe that

He's going to be out of the league in less than five years.

I miss Jon Stewart, just when I needed him most.

He's done occasional monologues/skits on Steven Colbert that have been great.

Yes, but the material just writes itself and it's LITERALLY daily.

I'm just glad McCaffrey didn't go to the Cheatriots, his hype plus their hype is more than enough to completely kill the game of football for me.

This place in particular is jealous enough of the P*triots, they trade a premium picks for a WR and DE that has less career sacks than Ray had last year and everyone is ready to concede the SB. I can't fathom what would have happened to Broncos fans if the Great White Hope Jr went to the prettier sister.
