Depth. It's a high injury position. I'm not sure you can read anything into the state of the backfield from the signing. They probably want x number of RBs in camp. One went down, bring in another.

I hear you - I'm sure that's true... But I am already uneasy about Charles being able to make the team. So then the prospect of Ridley actually having to play for us doesn't seem encouraging. Especially because it's July. He's the type of guy you sign in December when there's nobody else available.

That's why I have to go with "he's just training camp fodder" because it's too painful to think that Ridley is going to be a integral part of the backfield during the season.

Take advantage of the relationship with the SF FO and Send something legit for Hyde and Trenton Brown, who doesn't fit their ZBS.

    Trenton Brown is a T, not a C?

I don't see San Francisco trading Hyde in a year where they'll need to run someone into the ground.
*The statements above are my opinions, unless they are links, because then they are links, which wouldn't make them my opinions, and I suppose stats aren't necessarily opinion, but they are certainly presented to support an opinion. Proceed accordingly.

I'm kind of surprised they signed Ridley but I guess they wanted another veteran body. I'm guessing he doesn't make the 53, but anything is possible

He was productive with the Pats in 2012. That's a lifetime ago in football years

I wouldn't either but they put him on blast and apparently Shanatan Jr has a chubby for Joe Williams. I'd be more surprised if they were willing to trade Brown, but I just don't see how he'd ever fit a ZBS.
