Maybe you're right. I missed that report. But I kind of assumed (you know how to spell that,
right? ) that one reason for all the fights was that players were hitting as if it were full
pads. But if you look at these Thursday highlights, they're all in shorts, and they're not

Those are not "shells"

You guys don't know what you are talking about. "shells" are little foam pads. They were wearing helmets and shoulder pads and it was a physical practice (hence the all the fights).

Well, from the pressers and interviews I've seen, it appears that they refer to Helmets and shoulder pads as "shells."
But maybe I got the wrong impression.
