    Default Solar Eclipse

Ok, so are you in the path of the total solar eclipse next month? Do you have your protective goggles?

I'm not in the direct path, but am ready. We have a solar filter for our telescope. Should still be decent viewing here I think.

We aren't direct path either on this go round, but with it being nearly 100 years since the last total eclipse over US, we have another one in 7 years (2024) and then if I'm still alive (God willing), the center of the path passes only 20 miles or so from me and I'm in the total eclipse band.

Looks like it says we will be 93% obscured this go round, and it will be 100% in 7 years. Guess I need to get me some glasses. Maybe a lens for my camera.

Yes and no. If you try to take pictures, make sure you have the right filter.

We are camping in some random place in Wyoming to catch it. Got our eyewear and everything. Hoping the roads coming back to Denver aren't a mess.

My daughter lives in Casper - they'll be 100% up there.

    Pretty cool map:

We wanted to go, but all the hotels are booked for this event. My daughter is the front desk manager for a hotel, and couldn't get us space anywhere!

I'm gonna be in WY. I've been planning this for two years. I have all the proper gear for me, my camera and my telescope.
    Merry.
