Man, I've heard of like 20% of the bands/artists in this thread. I might be a snob/hipster about a lot of things, but music is definitely not one.
80s was easily the best era for music.
90s was kinda sucky but there is some good stuff.
True, for me it was in my very early music listening period and it didn't influence me to listen to similar types of music so I left it off in favor of those which gave me good memories and influenced my music tastes. But I did burn out Hybrid Theory and Meteora both.
I don't think I am listening to anything on my list.... They were just notable songs from that decade.
Stop being such a scrotum abe

There is definitely no accounting for taste. I liked one Linkin Park song years ago and even that song isnt super great in terms of song writing. The wife and i still crack up at an old promo they had running on tv about one of their albums with the singer saying "Better stay out of the pit or you will get hurt". Makes me crack up every time. lol
OK ******s I was going by the things in the OP:
"Which ones--just the solo track--did you get the most mileage out of, shaped you the most, were most theme-song of you and your homies, or had the greatest emotional impact?"
I got lots of mileage out of several LP songs, but they didn't shape me, they weren't a theme song, and they didn't impact me emotionally, so I didn't include em.
